Positive perceptions of entrepreneurial skills by Canadian adults are highlighted in GEM data for 2025. Entrepreneurial awareness, confidence and opportunity recognition are all reasonably high. Three out of five Canadian adults know someone who has recently started a business and see themselves as having the skills and experience to start their own business. Almost one in three Canadian adults expect to start a business in the next three years, but over half of Canadian adults seeing good opportunities would not start a business for fear it might fail. Canada has the highest level of total early-stage entrepreneurial activity (TEA) compared to other G6 economies.
