The 2024/25 GEM Thailand Report reveals a nation with one of the world's most vibrant entrepreneurial landscapes. Nearly one in four Thai adults (23.6%) is engaged in early-stage entrepreneurial activity, underscoring a deeply embedded culture of venture creation. A standout finding is Thailand's global leadership in gender parity, with women participating at rates nearly equal to men and uniquely leading in established business ownership. However, this high participation rate is challenged by systemic weaknesses. The National Expert Survey identifies three critical constraints: a severe deficit in entrepreneurship education at the school level, a broken pipeline for R&D transfer from academia, and insufficient government programs. These factors contribute to a high business discontinuance rate, driven primarily by a lack of profitability and financing. The report concludes that Thailand is at a pivotal juncture. To transition from high participation to high impact, it must engineer a qualitative leap in its ecosystem by implementing a 'K-to-Workforce' education strategy, bridging the R&D chasm, and modernizing government support to build a more robust, innovative, and sustainable entrepreneurial economy.
